Prayer News

Prayer news is our main way of keeping supporters informed of all that is going on in IFES Ireland. Each issue (produced every two to three months) aims to inspire you through stories of what God is doing through CUs around Ireland, and equip you to pray for this work through a prayer diary compiled from requests from the students themselves.

Register as a supporter and you can sign up to receive Prayer News by post or by email. You can also ask to receive email updates in between issues of Prayer News to keep you informed of urgent or emerging prayer topics.

January - March 2012

Welcome to the New Year!

Could I encourage you to take out our team card from wherever it has been buried and have a good look at the pictures of the student leaders, staff and volunteers. As you reflect on this, please pray for the CU Mission Team on your local Campus; that students would experience the gospel promise of Jesus: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5)

New Beginnings …On Your Marks …and we are off!

It is a new term and a new academic year and I am writing to ask you to pray for our 28 or so CU groups around Ireland, as they meet and welcome new freshers to join their CU Mission Teams on Campus. Having met so many freshers at the Belfast CU Pre-Term, I can say, with enthusiasm, that there is a terrific bunch of students heading to the CUs this year. Please pray for the fellowship of CUs that is IFES Ireland and encourage students you know to be involved and part of God's outreach work to this generation of students!

March and April 2011
It can sometimes be a cliché to describe the days we live in as monumental or momentous. Well, for the fellowship of IFES CUs, this is our reality. For Relay Worker Dónal Walsh, his life changed forever the day he walked away from the Cork plane crash, alive. The gospel continues to shape and transform the lives of many students. Our ministry faces the toughest financial challenges in our history. We never know what any day holds for us, but God's gracious care and purposes prevail. Psalm 91 urges us to make the Most High our dwelling- even the Lord, who is our refuge.

December - February 2010/11

In the face of gloomy news all round, I do hope you will be inspired by what you read in this issue of Prayer News. We have encouraging news from our Joint Colleges Weekend; “life changing”, according to one student. And more news: CUs are growing, students are giving to their CU movement, there are lots of training and outreach events planned, the Presidents Forum drew CU leaders from all 4 corners of Ireland for fellowship and discussion, and, crucially… students are becoming Christians!

October - November  2010:

We are Christ’s ambassadors! It’s the season of introductions! ‘What’s your name and where do you come from?’ – We know the routine. Now add: ‘What are you studying and where are you staying?’ and you step into the world of Ireland’s universities and colleges. Introductions form first impressions, which can shape lives eternally. Pray for enthusiastic CU students at the start of this year, who as Christ’s ambassadors, could see their lives, and those of the people they meet, transformed by the gospel.
